Opened in 2013, Echo Mesa Golf Course in Sun City West, Arizona is an executive course maintained by the self-reliant retirement community situated in the downtown Phoenix. Designed by Greg Nash in 1985, the golf course begun its operations only for private golfers but later opened up its doors for public golf tournaments and exhibitions. However, the golf course has limited tee times for the public during peak season but the management offers its members the liberty to choose their tee times at lower rates. Furthermore, it functions as a center for communal Wildlife Preservation Programs.
With its attractive aesthetics and impeccable conditions, the course boasts many artificial lakes and ponds that use seven holes to bring water into play. The exceptionally beautiful golf course also has grass bunkers and blue trees, making it very challenging to play. For every hole, the golf course offers golfers three different tees. The Echo Mesa Golf Course facility features 18 holes with the longest tees scaling to 4,145 yards. It has a rating of 60.6, along with a slope rating of 95. Greg Nash designed the course design to have six par-3 holes and three par-4 holes on every nine for a 60-par.
The somewhat flat course has an old-style design. The highlight of its front view is the eighth hole, which has two ponds that come into play. The pond on the left is deeper than the one on the right. Again, with a distance of 173 yards, the par-3 has two smaller bunkers before it and another bunker on the left side of the grass. Par-4 covers a stretch of 291 yards with a three-hole stretch. You can drive on this part of the course but the small sharp bend on the left has a sequence of four bunkers on the right side and another three past the green. The par-3 eleventh hole has a stretch of 136 yards, with two bunkers before it and a lake surrounding its green on three sides.
At 186 yards, the 12th hole features a bigger pond that runs on entirely along the right side. The 15th is the signature hole for Echo Mesa Golf Course. It is difficult to conquer because of the lake starting from its front right, towards the front, and ends at the green’s left side. With only 123 yards on the card, it has a pair of huge bunkers watching over its back.
Echo Mesa stands out among Arizona’s 251 golf courses due to its exceptional selections for most enthusiastic golfers, together with wide-ranging courses and adequate number of tee times that can fit your daily programs. Echo Mesa Golf Course has outstanding practice facilities and skilled teaching staff, including Anne Marie-Palli, the former LPGA Tour golfer. The course has a self-contained Pro Shop that many golfers and non-golfers have constantly praised as a great place for relaxation and enjoyment with tasty snacks and beverages. The General Manager of the course is Rose Putz.
