Built in 1993, The Palms is a popular championship course designed on land which formerly supported cotton fields. This course was created by a renowned architect known as Arthur Hills. Palm Valley Golf Club hosted avid players even before professional sports’ stadiums dotted the landscape across the western Phoenix metro area. Palm Valley is a master-planned community which began development back in 1987. Golf courses were then added in 1993 and 1999.

The Palms Course spreads out in an open, traditional fashion on a desert landscape. The tree-lined fairways vary from flat to hilly well-bunkered greens. It plays to par 72, with 4 sets of tees ranging from 5,300 to 7,015 yards. The Golf Club has two different 18-hole layouts, with 18 golf holes, including a signature hole that’s the best finishing hole in this valley.

The 545-yard par 5 has a large lake which runs along the left side before wrapping around the back of greens that are well protected by the bunkers. The landscape and prevailing winds demand for good, precise approach shots since the fairway becomes narrower as it nears the hole. The course was recently over seeded wall-to-wall during the fall of 2010, enhancing suitable winter-spring conditions.

Palm Valley boasts a well-appointed golf shop, the Fairway Grille, practice facility, a full-service bar and restaurant. A spacious patio offers spectacular views of this golf course and the surrounding mountains. The course is also home to the Waterfront Pavilion, which is popular for special events such as weddings and banquets.

Palm Valley is currently in the thick of things! It draws those who attend Phoenix Coyotes NHL games at the Jobing.com Arena, Arizona Cardinals’ NFL games at the University of Phoenix Stadium, and MLB training games at the Camelback Ranch and Goodyear Ballpark. You’ll often come across baseball players from the Indians, White Sox, Dodgers and Reds teeing it up at the valley. The facility is well-known for offering quality junior gold programs, loyalty cards (referred to as the Palms Card) and substantial discounts on the green fees and merchandise.

The main pavilion (5,000 square feet) overlooks the 18th green, providing a great view of the signature hole.
