Located in the heart of Sun City, the Sun City Lakes East is a semi-private golf course. It is one of the eight courses operated by Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. Built in the late 1960s, the course is a part of one of the most successful communities for the active adult. The Sun City Lakes East golf course was re-opened in 2006, and since then it has become a popular golfing hub.
The Sun City Lakes East Golf Course consists of the two sets of tees. The first set is 2,919 yards and has a rating of 55.1 and a slope rating of 78, while the second one is 3,295 yards with a rating of 56.6 and a slope rating of 83. A good amount of par 4’s, no water hazards and only a few aggressively sloped greens make this course attractive for players with various backgrounds. Bermuda grass, covering the greens and fairways, helps to run it smoothly. The routing of the course is similar to that of Scottish courses, and it may first seem somewhat unusual and different from the design you got used to. The opening holes run away from the clubhouse, and the closing holes return back with parallel fairways. Yet, players get used to this design during their first game and the unusual design does not cause any inconvenience.
The members of the club can book tee times five days out, while non-members have only three days available for booking. The pricing is reasonable, but the course offers a limited number of carts, so players should book them beforehand. With its 18-hole layout, Sun City Lakes East is of executive length, shorter than its regular-length counterpart, the Sun City Lakes West Golf course. The two courses share a clubhouse and a bar. Sun City Lakes East Golf Course is just right if you want a short but challenging game.
