Sunbird golf Resort is located in Chandler in the Sunbird Golf Resort Community located on Riggs Road between McQueen and Cooper. Sunbird is a semi-public golf course. Designed by Gary Panks, the course has many challenging features to delight every level of golf enthusiast, from the rookie recreationalist to the more serious low handicappers. Sunbird Golf Course is open to the public with daily green fees and twilight rates offered. Annuals and punch cards may be purchased. It is available for tournaments and league play. The 18-hole Sunbird course features 4,350 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 66. The course rating is 61.3 and it has a slope rating of 96. The course measures 4384 yards from the blue tees, 4153 yards from the white tees and 3730 yards from the red tees. There are practice putting greens next to the 1st and 10th tee boxes along with a chipping area; sand bunker and putting green are located directly behind the driving range. The Horizon Room Restaurant is located above the golf shop on the second level of the recreation facility. The Sunbird golf course is owned and operated by homeowners; Memberships may be purchased by residents only.
Single memberships are available for a onetime cost of $2,600; dual (couple) ones can be purchased at any time and very affordable payment plans are available as well. Sunbird Golf Resort is a ‘jewel’ of the Phoenix East Valley area with very manageable water features that are found on ten different holes. The Sunbird Golf shop has a lovely selection of golf related items including commonly used golf necessities, attire and snacks with rental carts and club sets which are also available for rent. Sunbird Golf Course opened in 1987 and Leo Buries manages the course as the General Manager.
